Veteran's Legacy of Freedom: Enriching the Filipino People of Today

Freedom, a word that can stir the heart of anyone in the world. It holds the power to sustain the life we most longed for. It is a symbol of a new hope to not give up and continue on reaching the dream of prosperity and hope.

Seventy-nine years ago, World War II broke out at a time where the Philippines was preparing for full independence. The country has witnessed a devastating loss of many lives, widespread destruction of properties, a halt to economic growth, and a war that has deprived children to grow up and experience peace in their surroundings. This time was a bitter experience if we go back to the pages of the past.

The noble blood of our heroes who risked their lives during World War II pulled us into our heritage, identity, ethnicity, and clan. A tribute to our veterans, because they did not hesitate to face the dangers of war. They courageously faced danger and uncertainty, in the name of being able to wave freely our national identity, the flag of our beloved country. They faced enormous challenges, endured hunger and thirst. They marched about hundred kilometres after the fall of Bataan. Our veterans who wanted to escape the pain caused by the colonisation. They are the one whose only desire is to achieve freedom for our homeland, the land of promises, our country the Philippines.

On the 9th of April every year, we commemorate the lives of our unsung heroes. Araw ng Kagitingan is a day where we honour our soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our freedom. The Day of Valour was declared a national holiday in the Philippines by Republic Act 3022. The law, which was passed by Congress in 1961, states that part of the commemoration for Bataan Day is a moment of silence at 4:30 p.m. among people and public offices.

But for this year's Araw ng Kagitingan, we bring honor also to our brave heroes of today, our frontliners. They are the one who have been facing a war with a virus invisible to the naked eye. They are the one who take care of us and are willing to sacrifice their life and time for the sake of our safety.  They are the one wh faced our current endevour with their chin held up high and arms crossed, promising that we will get through this hand in hand.

  1. I love how you included the frontliners as an ending message for the concept of this blog theme on about heroes during the Fall of Bataan! Great Work!
